folio this

Looking for work is kind of a pain. I mean cover letters alone are a bitch. I know that you are supposed to just have a generic one that you can use over and over. That just seems sterile. So, each time I have applied for a job, I have written an individual cover letter. Takes a lot of time. Whenever I have gotten an actual response, I am always told that it was my cover letter that grabbed their attention. Damn! That's the whole fucking point.

Anyway, I got a response from a woman on Tuesday. She said that they were hiring for this blah blah position and that she got my letter and resume from their career sight. Honestly, I thought when you apply to a career sight, it just went into a void. Someone actually gets it and reads it!

She asked if I was available this week to chat and that she was free after Wednesday. So, I responded that I had all day Thursday. No response. Huh? Not even the next day. Nothing. What kind of recruiting officer are you? I reached out again on Thursday, reminding her that today is the day that I am free all day. I mean you don't want these people to know that you are sitting by the computer waiting for your inbox number to go up. She responded within 2 minutes. Oh, I'm all booked up today. How about tomorrow? I made up some plans for tomorrow and said I could only do early in the morning or late in the afternoon. We agreed on a time and she signs off with "bring your portfolio and resume." What?!! Portfolio? Really?

Good thing my old boss gave me her printer. Crisis averted.
