merry happy and all that

Yeah, that's a weeple on his shoulder. Just chillin'.

My boss lady invited us to a rejects party. We hung out with losers, like us, that stayed in NYC and didn't have any family obligations. We had cinnamon infused whiskey (imagine Big, Red in liquid form-weird), IPA, meatballs and tons of dancing. Wishing the world could all get together and dance to:

Happy Holiday!

fancy this

I have this little phone that does not do much. I don't hate it but I don't love it. I got rid of my 'fancy phone' a few months ago to save money.  I also got rid of it so that I would stop using it as a crutch-like how I used to use cigarettes back when I smoked. Always at a moment of awkwardness. Always when I was somewhere unfamiliar and alone. I would whip out the phone and pretend to be doing something with it so that I didn't look like the loser that I really was. So having this crap phone has taught me how to be comfortable in my own skin. How to stare at people without looking away first. How to say "What?" with my eyes. It's kinda cool.

Unfortunately, it takes ridiculously awful photos. Really, I had wanted to tell a story about this past weekend. How I got stuck in an old inn with 5 people from high school. Well, 4 people from high school. Including my old sweetheart and his new flame, who last I heard was a lesbian. Just sayin'. There was 14+ inches of snow (the photo above is probably only an hour into it from my crap camera on my crap phone). Oh and no power. Our fairy godfather was with us as well. He made it all happen. The rooms we shared at the inn. The pizza dinner at the one restaurant in town with a generator. And oh the booze. I recall a lot of Jim Beam Black. Ruining my Ferragamos. Learning a lot about the vending machine business. Being reminded of why nothing is ever simple. Not being able to relax because I was without Ely James or Sweet Baby. Missing Ely James' Halloween show:

There is a lot more that I could say about the time spent in Kent but, without images to go with it, seems uneventful.

winesdays

This is about the wine. Not the whiskey. That's for another day. This day, or every Wednesday, I am back in Williamsburg. At the same store that I worked at for over two years. Now it is a different store. But it is not the store that I wanted it to be. It is not mine. Do not get me wrong. It is an amazing store. I enjoy my job and am tickled pint to have it but I get a little sad. Every Wednesday.

The window washer came in today. An amazing man that brings a smile to my face every time he comes. He was so glad to see me there. Again. In the same space. But different. He asked me if I believed in luck. I told him that it depends. On the situation. He said that he always believed that he made his own luck. Until recently. He was so happy that I recommended him to the new operator of the store. He has a job. I have a job. We are lucky.

I don't feel very lucky. Just on Wednesdays. Or as ely james calls it, Winesdays because every Wednesday I get wine. A whole big box o' wine.

Honestly, I'm just letting the world know that this exists. I know I know. Boxed wine has always been looked down upon. I don't give a shit. This stuff is cheap and pretty decent. $20 for 3L, aka 4 bottles of wine. My favorite is the malbec. Get some.

i'm bored

adarae and ely james survival kit pictured above. Box of wine. Collection of bulleit bottles filled with filtered water. Orange prayer candles. Hot sauce.

This day has been a total bust. Stuck in Brooklyn. Literally.

ely james and I went to the market, this afternoon, to get butter and hot sauce. Ridiculous that we endured the crowds and lines for such things.

Then we sat and watched the news.

A few hours later, we went back out to get whiskey. Had to be done.

Then we sat and watched the news some more. All day long. The most boring day ever, when each channel just keeps talking about the same thing over and over. Damn this Irene lady. I know more about Long Beach than I ever needed or wanted to know.

I read tweets. I read blogs. I read news. Where is this lady? She sure is taking her sweet time.

ely james wants to play scrabble but that seems pointless to me because we still have power. Game time is for when we are without the distractions of tv or the internet.

So, I get myself distracted with a theme.

Poor Maurice Dubois has been on for 11 hours. I think they are just as stir crazy in the news room as I am in my own home. It is now past midnight and the real rain has finally started. Excitement!
