check it

I have a small list of websites that I keep an eye on. Fashion, design or just plain shopping. One of my favorites is Wintercheck Factory. I don't check it that often because it does not change much. They offer just a few things but, they are awesome. Well, the clothes I could live without. It is the super functional accessories that really get me. Like a scarf with a zipped pocket in it for your cell phone (or a screwdriver?).

I was reminded to check back with Wintercheck because of NY Mag's gift issue. In the top right of page 78 was this:

Ahhh!! This was made for my home. But then there is this:

I could not tell you which one I like more. I LOVE them BOTH. I have a lot of orange in my life and a lot of camo; influence from an old best friend, who also taught me it was gauche to walk and smoke at the same time.

According to Wintercheck Factory:

Each available style is created from a small fabric stockpile. Sometimes less than 20 yards exist, which means quantities of the Deadquilt are very limited (2-18 quilts per print).

Ahhh! I am so tempted to forgo wine for a month just to have one.

I'm serious.

i've never lost a tooth opening a beer bottle

We had wine glasses, at some point. We had bought them at a Goodwill in fancy town Connecticut for $2. Real crystal. Those yuppies give away the coolest stuff. Of course, we broke them.

So, today I have been looking for wine glasses. Not that I am going to buy them! I can just go back to fancy town and find some cheapies. I'm just killing time really. Looking for some fun stuff. Like this:

Now we just have a hodge podge of glasses at Chez Adarae. We will drink out of anything. I remember when we broke our french press, we ended up pouring water into a ball jar and filtering out the grinds with panty hose. Worked pretty good, actually. Had to give in a buy a replacement glass for the press because we ran out of panty hose! Speaking of ball jars. Look at these:

I must be some redneck because I think these are amazing!

winesdays

This is about the wine. Not the whiskey. That's for another day. This day, or every Wednesday, I am back in Williamsburg. At the same store that I worked at for over two years. Now it is a different store. But it is not the store that I wanted it to be. It is not mine. Do not get me wrong. It is an amazing store. I enjoy my job and am tickled pint to have it but I get a little sad. Every Wednesday.

The window washer came in today. An amazing man that brings a smile to my face every time he comes. He was so glad to see me there. Again. In the same space. But different. He asked me if I believed in luck. I told him that it depends. On the situation. He said that he always believed that he made his own luck. Until recently. He was so happy that I recommended him to the new operator of the store. He has a job. I have a job. We are lucky.

I don't feel very lucky. Just on Wednesdays. Or as ely james calls it, Winesdays because every Wednesday I get wine. A whole big box o' wine.

Honestly, I'm just letting the world know that this exists. I know I know. Boxed wine has always been looked down upon. I don't give a shit. This stuff is cheap and pretty decent. $20 for 3L, aka 4 bottles of wine. My favorite is the malbec. Get some.
